Mirror Window Frame

I picked this up at a garage sale for $8, Hated the color but thought it had potential.

I thought I was going to have to tape off the mirrors to give it a new color, BUT I started looking at the screws on the backside...

So I got everything set up outside and placed the mirrors carefully to the side.

I sanded some (to help the paint adhere) A little tedious but worth the effort.

I painted it all white (it was 70degrees and dried fast so I did one heavy layer of paint).

I got done and wasn't crazy about how it looked so I decided to try the shabby chic look. The only stain I could find around the house was too 'red' so I got out a pint of black paint and a cup of water and experamented. I applied the paint with t-shirt scraps and used a wet t-shirt scrap to wipe it off. And this is what I got...

I'm REALLY happy with how it turned out :)

Cupcake Cones

Inspiration comes from my FAVORITE blog House of Hepworths who makes the bestest stuff!

Me and Valentines Day have a love-hate relationship, but I love pink and cupcakes so here goes...

My favorite mixing bowl (recieved it as a Valentines Gift last year from my parents) and breast cancer spatula ready to go!

I mixed the cake mix according to the box directions.

Line up your cones in a baking safe dish so they don't get messy!

I always make a mess trying to pour the batter in cupcake liners so I used House of Hepworth's idea and it turned out GREAT!!

I did the same with frosting (added red coloring to cream cheese icing)
and LOVED the baggy technique.

I think they would be SO CUTE for a baby shower :)

Tiles Turned Memo Boards

I visited several craft shows before Christmas and I saw a booth selling tiles that had been docorated with Sharpies, I'll say they weren't that cute AND they were wanting $20... I think NOT!

I went to my local hardware store and picked up some blank tiles for a cheap price!

I had some help drilling holes in the tile because I was thinking of hanging one on the wall. (used drill bit and continuously kept the tip wet)

I used my Cricut Dicut Machine to cut out "Tiffany" and "bsrdh."

I picked up the little black stand at one of my MANY trips to Hobby Lobby.
And am using regular dry erase makers to write reminder notes, grocery lists, etc.

After playing around a lot with different ribbons and also how I wanted to place the letters on the tiles, I was pleased with how it turned out.

Superbowl North Texas + Ice Storm = A big MESS! {thank gosh for crafts}

So I live in North Texas, and curiosity got to me! I went and check out the COWBOYS stadium getting fit for the big game 2.6.11 back on Sunday... and this is what it looked like...

(I was actually HOT in a light jacket, it was in the 70's) 

Well then comes Tuesday and we got tons and tons of ice! No work and lots of wrecks on the news!

Here's a picture of my driveway on Friday... Where there was once was SOLID ice,

it became ICE with SNOW....



So this meant TONS of time (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

to craft my hearts desire! Only problem, I kept adding to my list of supplies I needed!

So here's a preview of upcoming crafts to look forward to..... (need some finishing touches)

So what got finished this week besides the coasters?

My oober crafty mom saw the trash can I had bought and said she would work on it for me....

Started out plain trash can (of course I had used a printed off 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby)

Painted it brown with $5 OOPS paint (latex indoor), found a pattern online 

(with of course a Fleur de Lis) printed the design, then cut it out.

After she got all done, she decided she needed one too... so on our trip to hobby lobby today she bought

one for herself!

And I got craft supplies to finish my projects....

coasters

First of all I'm so super excited that I have had 70 views (3 were in Canada!), 4 Followers, and 1 comment!! (I've had several comments about the blog on facebook as well, leave me some lovin' on here I get super excited, lol)...

Okay so Texas is Ice'd in... and I've used my time organizing the kitchen which was boring  much needed, and crafting! I got the idea from a craft show item that I saw.  I really like going to craft shows to steal ideas for future crafts see all the creative crafts, where I saw a girl who used tile to attach photos in a scrapbook like effect.  I looked on my Mod Podge bottle and noticed that its a "sealer" so put it all together and decided to make coasters.  I first made 4 of these for my friend Susie, which 4 different photos of us together on them.  She LOVES coasters because hates when people leave rings on tables, so she has a coaster everywhere you look!

After making her the 4 I decided to make me a set with pictures of my friends.  The idea is when people come over they can use the coaster with a picture of us together on them.  So here goes....

I purchased cheap tile individually at the hardware store. I chose the white color, but you could try a fun color as well!  Next I painted the sides with black acrylic paint & added black craft felt to the bottom with hot glue (so it wouldn't scratch any tables).

I then added pictures... I had a few to chose from...

Okay so now I picked out scrapbook paper (I've got this favorite pattern I'm starting to use a lot.)

I measured out the side for the top of the coaster, I'll say if I make more later on ill do them slightly smaller, its hard to make a 'seal' on a curved corner!!

 So then I got everything ready to go! Aren't my friends pretty??

Last minute decided to add a personal touch to each one, stickers!!

I added mod podge to the tile, place the paper on top (get out all the air bubbles!!), then put another

coat on top!

(she MIGHT kill me for using that picture of us)

It will look foggy as it dries.

So super cute! I put an extra coat on top to make sure water won't ruin my pic's!!
