refinished pieces to make my dream master bedroom

Okay, this will be my biggest refinish project ever!

Okay remember this bed set that was THOUSANDS of $$$ out of  my single girls price budget?

And remember this bed that I bought for $20??

Well, I'll let the photos speak for them self....

All the paint used was "oops" paint from Lowe's
($5 for the turquoise, and $5 for the brown)

Painted a layer of brown on all pieces, followed by a layer of turquoise on all pieces,
then took a sander to get off some of the turquoise for the 'worn' look.

I painted the top of the dresser then decided I wasn't a huge fan,
then had to strip off all the paint and use 3 different grains of sand paper to get back
to the natural wood surface.

Picked up a mirror at a model home auction for $15

Move in day....
(the night stands were a present from my parents, match the dresser top so well!)

Where I put on my make up everyday!

I plan to mount my TV on the wall.
 I just LOVE my dresser!!!

Pumpkin Cream

Someone today that came into my work was saying something
pumpkin cream cheese dip that she makes and puts over ginger snaps.
She didn't remember the recipe but said it was simple so I went to googling and after
reading about 5 recipes came up with this:

1 8oz package softened cream cheese
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (could of used a hint more)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

* Just mix it together! - I used my Kitchen Aid on medium for 2min *

It suggests to refrigerate for 1-24 hours.  I of course sampled immediately and it was AMAZING!

I also paired my tasty treat with this Pumpkin Hot Cocoa I picked up at Walmart.
(I used hot milk and added 3 heaping tablespoons of mix).

embossing

okay so I've been MIA on blogger huh? yup!
I've done a mud run, had an open house, Halloween party, went to prison with Bill Glass ministry team (yes volunteering and helping woman in a prison, crazy I know) and tons of furniture re-dos to be posted!!

I'll start with my first time embossing,
I wanted my house warming party to really POP and wow people,
and I LOVE am obsessed with the Wizard Of Oz !

So I bought the invitations on clearance at Target (wedding invites)
And modified with ribbons (used hot glue).

To emboss it was way easy ...
1.  stamp with color of choice (I bought fast drying ink stamper, oops)
2.  sprinkle embossing powder or embossing glitter over the stamp
3.  I let it sit for a minute
4.  dump of the powder/glitter (and get it all, whats left will melt onto blank paper)
5. apply embossing tool (work from an arms length away and SLOWLY bring the paper
closer to the tool.
and TA-DAH!

I also included a recipe card that people filled out and have given back to me  :)

Move In Day

Okay so move in day was fab! I had so many friends here to help me, and
here's a little recap :)

The night I got my keys I enjoyed pizza and Dr Pepper on the floor!

Move in day started badly, my poor mother tripped & fell and hit her chin!
(NOTE: she wasn't carrying any of my stuff just lost her footing,
but I still feel terrible)

Last box we carried out of the trucks and trailers.
(NOTE: I wanted to carry it, and it was too heavy so Bradley saved the day)

Me and Hayley realizing the box was more than we could handle!
It was packed solid with bored games!

Me also failing at picking up my bird bath earlier.

A room full of boxes! Will be my study!

Move in day, how my bathroom looked!

Cellular row of everyone helping me!

My parents gave me a coffee pot!
(Is it so there is coffee when they visit??)

We put all my decorations in one room. And we called it
the "design center."

Oh the countless garage sales, antique sales, and trips to hobby lobby this room could tell.

My friend Courtney organizing my closet!

OKAY GRAPHIC PICTURE TO FOLLOW!!
I've felt so guilty that I haven't been blogging so I decided to share
the picture of my arm, explaining why I've been recovering &
not feeling well.  Read post about the shelf falling on my arm, here.
