Got My House Keys- Home Tour

Okay so I got my home keys today!
It was a LONG day, met the builder at my house (they were still putting in appliances
and some stuff still hadn't been done- i.e. paint my garage door panel that they had to replace),
then drove an HOUR to the closing location with the title agency,
then drove an hour back home and waited for a phone call that all my paper work went through.
(realize it was a cashiers check and yet it STILL took hours!!!)
So I waited and waited, and 5pm was approaching so I called and they had paperwork
issues (what a shocker, that was there problem ALL along). So I finally got my keys at like
6pm. With it being a new home, my dad is helping me put up my blinds on Friday and my home
alarm is going in tomorrow night so I didn't want to encourage any burglars and
put valuables in the house until I get an alarm in!

so here's my FINISHED home tour :)
I'm not sure WHO decorated my front door, but they are an
AWESOME friend, it made me so excited!

thanks y'all for stopping by :)

Get the keys TOMORROW

Okay so my house has been:
Exciting, exhausting, overwhelming, intriguing, fun, crazy, painful, amazing, frustrating….
well okay, I could go on forever!
the latest struggles:
my garage door had a huge dent & didn’t go up & down on the tracks so it had to be replaced,
they put wood posts in the back fence instead of metal like I was told I would have,
they hung the light over the sink in the guest bathroom instead of in the middle because
“its better for men to see to shave” and had to be moved to the middle,
oh my loan company continuously keeps losing documents after they say they’ve received them
(but if I use this loan company they pay most all of my closing),
and that’s all my venting for now!
But anyways I get the keys tomorrow but I’ll catch you up on the house progress that’s
been happening since my last house post.

Okay does anyone remember the Sex and the City movie scene where she
gets into the new apartment (with her dream closest that Big made for her)
and she is SO excited to put her new pair of expensive designer heel on the shelf?
(I LOVE THAT MOMENT)
Tomorrow will be my moment, (except no one did it for me) tomorrow after
handing over the big fat check I'll get keys to MY house,
unlock the door and carry in my first item going in the house.....
will be my brand new red kitchenaid mixer.
SQUEEL!

cant wait!!!!

re-did the redo of mom's powder bathroom

So the morning after I posted mom's powder bathroom redecoration she was in the bathroom scraping the
wallpaper off.  She thought she could just take off the boarder BUT that didnt work.  It took off too much
of the paint and texture to just repaint it so she decided she wanted venetian plaster BEFORE bunco
(girls night out) that was tonight...

So here's the pic's

the original redo pics are from this post
(here's 2)

then it went BROWN!!
(and yes the sink is still tacky, they are ordering a new vanity, but they are getting all
new appliances on Wednesday and granite counter tops)

p.s. here's my house :) -- I close in 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Home Tour 8-14-11

An update on my home build progress is in order :)

Okay so my closing date got pushed from August 31 to September 6th due to "Texas Heat"
.... needless to say I'm not too happy with the set back because I was counting on the long weekend to get
settled in AND had things set up for delivery already AND
had friends set up to help me move... so back to the drawing boards on all that!

So I added in the date the picture was taken to show you how fast this house is going up!

7/14/11
 7/15/11
 7/16/11
 7/20/11
 7/31/11
 8/2/11
 8/4/11
 8/9/11
 8/9/11
 8/12/11
 8/12/11

So this last picture... I walked in my house Friday night and when I started
down the hallway I smelled this awful stink, I smelled it in 2 of the bedrooms as well.
I kept thinking gross it smells like URINE?!?!
Then I walked into the bathroom and started to Gag, I figured out quickly that someone had
pee'd in my bathtub. It was 110 outside so no telling how hot it is inside the house and it was just sitting in their baking in the heat.  GROSS GROSS GROSS. There is a porta potty right outside in the front
yard but some jerk did this!!  I sent this picture to the home builder and if something isn't done
quickly it will be sent to corporate. UCK!

Powder Bathroom Makeover

The only wallpaper left in my parents house is one small boarder in the powder bathroom.
Its Thomas Kinkade designs and not too drastic but I'm sure that room will eventually get
the texture/mudding as well.

Here's the before with a coordinating Thomas Kinkade picture

We added the cross on the wall from this post.

 And assembled some wall decor

Reusable Shopping Bags & Box

So I decided to join the reusable shopping bag efforts but I was tired of none of mine matching.
So I went to Target and got 6 that all matched from the dollar section. (total $6)

I also picked up this really cool box that the bottom unzips and it folds flat for $18 at Market Street
grocery store (original sticker price was $80, CRAZY)
 before shopping...

 after shopping!!...
So excited!! and with the box nothing rolled around in my back seat or trunk, how wonderful!
AND I must say my house is coming along... :)
